Dial B for Bunny

Hey, I’m back! With projects, finals, and even summer assignments for high-school, I have been really busy and unable to post. Do not fear! Now that summer is underway I will have more time to post!

CarrotSound

Now that the introduction is out of the way, we have our first official look inside the new 24 Carrot Island: Beta Carrotene and we get an explanation of what it includes (other than  a red-orange pigment found in plants and fruits, especially carrots and colorful vegetables).  We will be able to play with  features previously previewed such as the full screen, music and sound effects, and controversial new “navigation system” that appears to be the same as what is used in the common rooms. We do have to remember that since it is just in Beta that there will be features missing such as saving your game or using the customizer, but don’t fret, because these will be added back in later. Are you bouncing off the walls about this update, because I definitely am!

We also have our first look at the newest LEGO CUUSOO project prize. Our next code will give us the power to place these bunny ears on who ever we want! But wait, what would happen if we tried to put them on Dr. Hare? These styling bunny ears can be yours in under 100 more supporters, so if you haven’t yet, make sure to support the project!
You have to admit, you want to put some bunny ears on every one on 24 Carrot too.

The Battle Bot in the Cheese Factory.

And yes, that is a Bones reference. From time to time we get a reminder of some of the great little things that Poptropica offers. One of those things is the abundance of free Mini-Quests that are available.  Good ol’ Captain Crawfish is giving us a reminder about those Mini-Quests. Legendary Swords, Shrink Shot, Prepare for Impact, Dr. Hare’s Secret Lab, and the Haunted House are free and available for you to play.
Go out to the Poptropica Store and get any of those epic free adventures you don’t have right now!

Speaking of Legendary Swords, when are we getting those updates promised a year and a half ago? I would be pretty excited getting a Battle Arena or some new legendary adventures!

In other news, some strange images have been showing up in the Daily Pop. I don’t really know what to make of these sneak peaks.
De-Coded: There's a glitch in the system.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that these probably aren’t about Virus Hunter Island, so what are they about? The new Battle Bot Cheese Factory Glitch Island? What do you think all of these could be about?

The Adventures of Captain Lightning: Episode 13

Episode 13: Into the Fire Part Two
As soon as Captain heard the noise he saw Booth fly backwards and hit the wall behind him. He seemed badly wounded and wasn’t moving. When he looked over to where the noise came from he saw the Xenon-8 commander in all of his terrifying glory.
“Welcome young hero…”
The Commander unleashed another shot out of his alien weapon. It looked like a giant bolt crackling with energy.
“I created it just to defeat you with. Fitting that the Captain Lightning will be defeated with nothing other than lightning.”
“You will never get the chance!”
“I wouldn’t be so sure!”
Captain ran at the Commander but as soon as he was there the Commander had disappeared.
“You can’t thing that you are the only one with special powers!”
It was at this moment that the Commander appeared right in front of Captain and slashed at him with the bolt, missing him by only a matter of inches. Continually assaulting Captain the Commander was brutal. He was going to show no mercy at all. His invasion of the planet would not be stopped. He would not fail.

While Captain was having his battle, the knights had their own. Once Captain made his way into the building an army of the Xenon-8 appeared at the top of the volcano.
“Kill the fleshlings!!”
The battle had begun.
The knights stood their ground waiting on the Xenon-8 to come closer, then charged at them. Slashing at the knights, the aliens had no technique, leaving themselves open to be slashed down by the knights. Even with their limited fighting ability, there were so many of them, the knights couldn’t hold them off for long. With more continuously coming, the army was slowly getting closer to the castle. If they got in, it would all be over. It was all over. The Xenon-8 were bringing out the big one.

Captain was still doing his best to find the controller to shut down the portal. It was rather hard to look while being attacked by the ugliest creature in the galaxy. His attacks were completely brutal. Booth had already gone down. Would Captain be next? While the bolt was zinging towards his face there was little time to search for what he came for. Everything looked the same. On the inside, the castle was little more than a cave. Captain had to make his way over to Booth to get something to fight back with or else the mission would fail. Captain would only have one chance.

The knights were also having the fight of their lives. They were able to hold off the waves of mindless soldiers but there was a really big one with a fin that was slowly getting closer and closer to them. They hoped that Captain could get his mission done before they had to face the big daddy Xenon-8.

While the knights were hoping that Captain would be done soon, his plan hatched. He managed to kick the Commander in the stomach (area since he was a skeleton) and he flew backwards. While he was down Captain sprinted over to Booth and grabbed the Xenon-8 detaining net. Mow this contraption was invented as a large net that when thrown over a Xenon-8 disables them to no more than a motionless pile of bones. As Captain grabbed it and threw it on the Commander the fight was over. Captain had defeated this alien menace and was ready to go home. Wait a minute, Captain was thinking to himself, I still haven’t found the portal controls! It wasn’t near the Commander’s chair. It wasn’t even in the room! Where else could it be… He then looked over at the Commander’s secret weapon. That was the key, that was the control. He ran over and grabbed it then bolted out of the door. He ran all the way back to meet up with the knights.

The big daddy Xenon-8 was on its way to the knights. There was no way that they could hold it off.
“It was a great honor to fight with you men.”
“The honor was ours,” The other two knights said.
This is when the unexpected happened in a marvelous way. A bolt of lightning flew through the castle door and straight into the gargantuan foe. It then fell with a boom. Captain ran out of the door and rallied the knights behind him. With Captain leading the way blasting the Xenon-8 away with the portal control and the knights behind him cleaning up the stragglers, they soon made their way back to the portal. Once they were back on their own planet Captain charged the weapon up all the way and let it fire with all of its might through the portal. The portal then shrank until it disappeared. The world was saved. The mission was complete.
“Where is the gallant fighter Booth?” asked one of the knights.
“He didn’t make it…”

Three Hours Later:
Captain and the knights were just arriving at the lab when the Professor ran out and embraced them.
“Great job men, I knew that you could complete the mission!”
“Not without loss.”
“He knew what he was getting into.”
They all looked at each other solemnly. No one spoke a word until the Professor chimed back in.
“You still have to clean up all of the Xenon-8 still here.”
“We can save that till tomorrow, can’t we?”

Back Lot Guide

Walkthrough written by Samwow5 & Skyboy303
Special thanks to: Zippy Turtle & Slanted Fish
Edited by Fuzzy-B
When you first arrive goo inside the coffee shop on the far right.
Once you step inside, go talk to the homeless man, former child star Willy Bingleman!

Once you have talked with him leave the coffee shop, and go one shop over to the left. It’s called One-of-a-Kind Talent Agency.

Once you get inside, go all the way to the right. There will be a woman at the desk. She says you look like a star, and you say, “Me, a star?” Then she says if you pay a thousand dollars, she’ll help you get started on your career. Then she tells you to go to Harvey Scoops if you’re looking for money. Now, leave the building and head right to the next area – Sunrise Street.

Once you get there, head past the theater and souvenir shop until you get to a wall with a guy standing next to it, Harvey Scoops

He’s investigating the place because rumors have swirled that someone’s been working in there. Ask if you can help, and he says yes. Harvey also asks you to climb the building and get a picture. You’ll receive a Telephoto Camera.

Now, go all the way to the far left on Main Street, you will see a guy with camera in front of the Celebrity Wax Museum. Click “Use” on the Telephoto Camera and he will give you some Camera Film.

Now, go back to where Harvey Scoops is at and climb the building. Go to your list of items, and click “Use” on the Camera Film. It will combine with the Camera to make it work. Now, click “Use” on the camera and take a photograph of a man with a beard, in the building next to the Souvenir Shop. Once you take it, you’ll feel an earthquake, and then you’ll fall into the property.
After regaining consciousness, run right and click on the door to enter the stage.

When you click on it, the assistant director of the movie will come out. She asks if you’re security, and you say no. She’s happy about that because she doesn’t want the movie to be interrupted. Ask about the movie, and she says it’s being made by Carson Willis, the greatest filmmaker of all time, who has been missing. After you finish talking to her, enter the building.

Kirk Strayer

Once you get there, run left onto the stage, where movie star Kirk Staryer is acting. He gets mad that someone always interrupts his scene, so he runs off with Carson Willis chasing after him, trying to get him so they can continue the filming.

After Kirk and Carson leave, follow them. Once you get outside, you’ll find the assistant director freaking out about the schedule, telling you to go get Kirk back. You then receive an official studio cart.

Once you leave the first stage, you need to look for Kirk’s trailer. So drive straight down until you reach the far bottom wall, then turn around and go up to the right a lttle bit and you will see his trailer.

Getting the coffee

Once you get there, knock on the star door. Kirk Strayer will tell you to go away, but you ask him what it’s going to take to get him out of there. Strayer says he wants a Half-Caf Leviathan Latte-Expresso on the double. Then a cup comes out of the skylight on the trailer.
Now, hop on your cart, and head back to Soundstage 1. Then go all the way to the left and open the gate so you can get out and fetch his coffee.

Run all the way back to Main Street, and enter one of the two Queequeg’s Coffee Shops to refill Kirk’s cup. The guy at the register will tell you he is out of that particular drink so you will have to choose another. Choose the Infant-Sized Coffee (decaf espresso).

Now exit the coffee shop and run to the left until you get to the other coffee shop. Talk to the lady at the register and she will also tell you she is out of that particular coffee. Order an Infant Sized Coffee (full latte).

Now open your menu items and choose the Infant Sized Coffee. Pour both cups of coffee into the larger cup and you will have made the coffee that Kirk wanted – a Half-Caf Leviathan Latte-Espresso.
Go all the way back to Kirk’s trailer after you have done this. Knock on his door again and you will tell him you have his coffee.

Filming

Jump back into the cart and go back to Soundstage 1. Once the old guy stops talking, jump up the wooden stairs and use the camera. When using the camera, just make sure to keep Kirk in the middle of the screen at all times, demonstrated in the picture below.

Chasing the Script

Once you are done filming, exit Soundstage 1 and jump into your cart again. Go all the way to the right until you get to Soundstage 2. Enter the soundstage and talk to the lady there.
Now exit the soundstage and go back to Soundstage 1. Jump to the top of Soundstage 1 using the ledges on the left. Talk to the guy on top of the building, Goldie, and his precious screenplay will be blown away to Sunrise Street.
Now go to the left and go back to the top of the green building. There will be a screenplay page on the TV antenna on top of Juan’s Celebrity Souvenirs.
Continue left and get to the top of the Chinese theater building. To get to the top, use the sides of the roof to help you bounce high enough. You will find another screenplay page on top of that building.

Keep going left until you get to the first Queequeg’s Coffee House (right of the Talent Agency), where you should find another screenplay page on the neon sign at the top. Keep going left until you get to the Celebrity Wax Museum and the last screenplay page will be on the far left of the roof of that building.
Once you have all of the pages, go all the way back to the right and talk to the guy on top of Soundstage 1. Give him the pages and jump back into your cart.
Go back to Soundstage 2 and talk to the lady again. Now it’s time to put the script pages in order. Open the scripts from your menu and rearrange them so that the 3rd one is 1st, the 4th one is 2nd, the 1st one is 3rd and the 2nd one is 4th.

Become an Actor

Lead Actress

Now you will be given an Actress Headshot and it’s your job to find someone that looks like her to play a lead in the movie. Exit the soundstage and go back all the way to the beginning of the island and enter the One-Of-A-Kind Talent Agency. Give the lady at the desk the headshot. The lady at the desk will tell you she’s actually Lacey Williams!

Acting as the Navigator

Now head back to Soundstage 2. Once you get there, you will have to play the role of the navigator. Go to the left and jump up to change into costume.
  1. The first thing you say in the film is “But-”
  2. When it comes up, offer her a compass.
  3. Next, say “Safe journeys! I’ll never forget you!”
  4. After that, your next line is “Noooooo!”

Prop train

Now exit the soundstage and go to Soundstage 3 which is all the way to the right and to the bottom of the road map. Enter the stage and talk to the lady on the left. Now you will have to put together 3 puzzles to build a prop train. You’ll be given more than enough wood pieces, so there are multiple ways you can finish the puzzle, but here are some possible solutions:
trainPropPuzzle1
trainPropPuzzle2
trainPropPuzzle3

Casting the cowboys

Once you’re done, run to the right, jump above the door, and grab some cowboy hats – you’ll need a white one and a black one.
Now exit Soundstage 1 and go back to the beginning of the island so you can find some actors. The first one will be in the first coffee shop. Give Willy Bingleman the Black Hat.
The second will be in the Digital Dreamscapes studio who’s wearing a motion capture suit. Give him the White Hat.

Calling the shots

Head back to Soundstage 3. Once you get there, talk to the lady again. You will now be the stunt coordinator. All you need to do here is press on the buttons that relate to whatever the director calls for: a tornado, a villain (hat), or a buffalo.

King Kong Spoof

Once you are done, exit the soundstage and go to Soundstage 4, which is all the way to the right and down a bit. Enter this soundstage and you will now dress up as an ape and your role is to destroy the city. To do this, just jump on the buildings, pop all of the balloons, and destroy all of the lights!
“Jump on the rooftops all the way to the top to collect the red balloon. Be sure to pop all the green balloons on the way.” While you’re jumping, cannons will be shooting at you, slowly lowering your “life” bar. The trick is that you can destroy the cannons by hitting them and you can smash the army men by landing on top of them. There’s one level that’s the toughest because it has three army men.  Try to jump on all three of them at once.  When you get the red balloon, you win.

Post Production

Once you are done filming, exit the soundstage and go to the Post Production building which is the one across the street to the left.

Film Editing

Talk to the old guy and then head to the film editing computer to the left. You will have to cut some shots out. “Can you find the mistake?  Scrub through each scene and locate the frame with the error, then splice it out with the razor.”
You’ll see three rolls of film. In each roll is something that is off. The first one has a yellow banana, the second one has a boom mic in shot, and the third one has stuffing coming out of the bear.
Use the bar at the bottom of each roll to move it forward or backward one frame at a time. When you see the mistake, click on the razor blade at the right. Then left click and hold to cut between the green lines.  Cut above the film cell and below it to splice it out. Do it three times to finish.

Sound Editing

Click on the director, who will tell you it’s time to add sound. Follow him into the sound editing bay to the right. Click on one of the sound effect props.
“Each of the scenes needs four sounds added at the right time. Click on the correct sound when you see the indicator flash on screen.” There are 16 sound effect (SFX) buttons along the bottom. In the middle is a rolling film. At the top is a digital screen which will flash and tell you which SFX button to hit.
First clip:
  1. Rain (rustling paper)
  2. Thunder (metal sheet)
  3. Balloon popping (balloon)
  4. Balloon hitting water (cup of water)
 Second clip:
  1. Fireplace (match and can)
  2. Plates rattling (plates)
  3. Bear growling (bear)
  4. Ghost moaning (ghost)
Third clip:
  1. Buffalo (buffalo)
  2. Horses galloping (coconuts)
  3. Train (brushes and whistle)
  4. Punch (paddle and meat)
Fourth clip:
  1. Airplane (fan)
  2. Kong landing on building (anvil hitting box)
  3. Gorilla howl (gorilla)
  4. Kong falling (bottle)
Once you are completely done editing the film, talk to the old director again. He will give you Film Reels to take to the Chinese theater!

The Many-Splendored Zephyr

Now head all the way back to the beginning of the island and go to the theater. Talk to the lady standing outside of it and say “He’s a strange guy, what’s his deal?”
Enter the theater and run to the right. Now jump up and use the seats to go all the way to the left to the projector room. Use the film reels to add the movie to the projector. Enjoy the show!
Once the movie is over, exit the theater and talk to the lady (Sofia) once again. She will give you your gold medallion and credits for the Store! Congratulations, you’ve completed Back Lot Island!

Bonus Quest (members only)

But wait…there’s a bonus quest to be had. Sofia tells you that a camera was left on in Soundstage 1. The bonus quest description: “Sneak into the studio and evade security to win a new prize in this island’s bonus quest! Plus, get a bonus prize pack of costumes and items.”
Enter the studio and go to Soundstage 1. Jump up to the camera to grab it. Just as you do, the Warren sisters, the owners of Grand Majestic Studios, will catch you and accuse you of trespassing. You hightail it out of there.

Avoid Back Lot security

“Avoid and outlast the Back Lot security.  Collect (rockets) for speed boosts.  Collect (green balls) for extra protection.”
You’ll be in your cart and need to dodge the security carts that come after you. The trick is to just stay to the outside roads as much as possible. Don’t try grabbing the rockets or green balls, just keep moving. It’s a little challenging, but not super difficult.
The reward is a hand-held camera!

The Adventures of Captain Lightning: Episode 12

Episode 12: Into the Fire Part One

May 14th:
The team was on their way to Shrink Ray Island, the home Island of Captain, to go through the portal. They were going to go into the depths of the Fire Planet to stop the Xenon-8 and close the portal for good. The situation was tense. The five men sat quietly in the Professors helicopter. They were about to try something incredibly dangerous. Some of them may not make it back. Once Shrink Ray came into view the men prepared for the jump. They were going to parachute in, with the island being too dangerous to land on. It was completely overrun by the Xenon-8. They were everywhere. It was their base camp on Planet Poptropica. As the drop zone came into place the five jumped out of the chopper. As they floated silently down to the island in the dead of night they were all going over the plan in their heads. Captain and Booth were going to go straight for the leader, while the three knights districted the rest of the Xenon-8 and gave them cover. The plan seemed easy enough, but once I the portal, you can only be in for 24 hours until you can’t go back through. They couldn’t make it on the enemy planet for the amount of time it would take to launch a rescue shuttle from Lunar Colony Island. This was to be for the fate of the world. They landed on the island silently. As they snuck towards the portal they saw the Xenon-8 planting some sort of fruit. There was a sign over it that said
Captain took a photo with his helmet and continued on. These plants were to become the source of one of the greatest pandemics in the history of Poptropica, but that is another story.

Continuing on, the team saw that the apartments were completely destroyed. There was nothing left but rubble. In the center of it was the portal. As the team snuck towards it they noticed an awful smell. It was the smell of sulfur, coming from the portal. It really was the fire planet. They make it to the portal. A blue disk floating in the air. Once you were close enough to it, you could barely make out the outline of a volcano. This was their destination. They one by one went through and arrived on the home of the enemy. They stared their watches, knowing that they only had 24 hours. Once they were on the planet they descended into the volcano. Farther and farther down they went, seeing what appeared to be a castle built in the bowls of the volcano. As they neared to entrance they stopped and talked about the plan.
“Knights, you remain outside and cover me and Booth as we confront the Alien leader and take the portal controller. Once we have it we will get back on this side of the portal and close it up. Clear?”
“Clear.”
“Good, now let’s go!”
Captain and Booth ran into the castle while the knights stayed outside, waiting on the reinforcements to come. Navigating the halls, Captain knew where to go; he followed the noise, a noise he hadn’t heard since he gained his powers. They continued to run until they saw a huge door. They quietly opened it and walked in. As soon as they were inside, there was a huge bang.

Back Lot Island Info Post

With the release of Night Watch Island, we now set our sights on Back Lot Island! Yep, it is now official, not just an accidental reveal! We now get our first official look at the new Island!

The description reads:
The greatest filmmaker of all time has come out of hiding, and he needs your help to make his masterpiece. But will you be producing the next big blockbuster, or is there trouble in tinseltown? From the first frame to the final cut, it's lights, camera, action!
As all ways, there will be some trouble as soon as we try to do something fun! I am looking forward to this! I can't wait to do some special effects work! As is now the norm, there will be a Members-Only Bonus Quest once your done with the Island.
The back lot's owners have returned -- and they want you off their property! Can you outrun studio security and get away with a valuable souvenir?
So now we are the criminal? We have to get away from security with a (stolen?) souvenir? This seems fishy to me! There are also the new Members-Only Items that will soon be released!

Members get an additional Back Lot Island gear pack, which includes Film Director costume, Silent Treatment power, and Clapperboard item.

Not the most original items, but they still look pretty cool. There is also the new wallpaper and poster.

I see an actress winning an award, Groucho Marx, a fancy looking actress, Elvis Presley, King Kong, and Frodo the Hobo.

And I shall leave you with the trailer for the new Island!

Once in the first room, the Jungle Room, you can head to the right to get Belt’s Da Da Daa power and Eep’s Music Shell. This then sends you to the last room, the Sun-Lit Room. In here you can go to the left where you can get the Douglas’ Stick Trick Power, which gives you a hand held stick that is thrown when you press the space bar and returned to you by Douglas. The Grug’s Super Punch Power lets you super punch the ground when you press the space bar. Also go to the top and watch the Macawnivore attack, or head to the left and get the two costumes!

Announcing... Back Lot Island!

It appears that the name of the newest Island has been accidentally shown to us. There was a recent post on the Creators Blog that went like this...

Sneaky. Very Sneaky.

In Sneak Peeks, we post concept art and other work in development for unannounced Islands. If you’d been checking Sneak Peeks through January and February and seen images like the one posted above, you probably would have surmised that we were working on a movie-themed Island… long before we announced Back Lot Island!
Sneak Peeks is updated five days a week. All you need to do to check it out is to visit Poptropica and click on the “Daily Pop” icon to see the latest.
We’re usually working on more than one Island at a time. Can you guess what we might be working on next?

Very, very sneaky Creators. After being posted on the PCB it was taken down, most likely because it said "you probably would have surmised that we were working on a movie-themed Island… long before we announced Back Lot Island!"

But they haven't announced Back Lot Island yet! I guess they have now! Even when you go to www.backlotisland.com it redirects to Poptropica.com! I belive that we have our new Island name!

Thanks to Brave Tomato for finding this scoop!
